Under general direction of the Park Services Manager, oversees and manages the daily operations, enhancement and maintenance of all city parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, city facilities, irrigation, right-of-way's and medians. Supervises assigned staff in the operation of the Park Services Division.

Essential Job Functions & Other Important Duties:
Oversees and manages the daily operations of the Park Services Division including directing and monitoring of assigned personnel and contracted service providers.
Plans, organizes and implements maintenance schedules, work programs, bid specifications, contracts and agreements for various park maintenance activities and renovations.
Develops project proposals; manages annual fund designated for park system improvement and renovation projects; manages and approves ongoing supply and contractual purchases.
Oversees and manages the Parks Work Order system and related applications.
Inspects maintenance and project work in progress and upon completion.
Liaisons and/or works with sports associations, community organizations and City Boards and Commissions in matters concerning current, proposed and future utilization, maintenance and improvement of the City parks and related properties.
Responds to and resolves customer complaints, questions and suggestions related to Park Services Division services, facilities, and activities.
Prepares, manages and monitors division budget.
Hires, counsels, disciplines, evaluates and directs assigned staff.
Reviews Park Services Division policies and procedures; assists with the modification and development of policies and procedures.
Monitors staff, equipment and practices to achieve the most efficient care of the park system at the desired level of care. This includes projections for staff, equipment replacement or capital improvements projects.
Solicits, contracts and manages outside vendors and contractors to provide resources and services in conjunction with the Park Services Division responsibilities.
Other Important Duties:
Promotes department services, programs and activities at public events and meetings.
Travels to inspect and oversee construction, repair and maintenance activities and to attend meetings, conferences and training.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Knowledge of development, maintenance, construction, repair, and enhancement of City facilities, open spaces, athletic fields, parks, playgrounds, right of ways and medians.
Knowledge of project development, management and implementation.
Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software.
Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
Ability and knowledge to forecast future needs of division and skill to develop and implement plans to adequately manage the Parks system.
Skill in preparing effective oral and written communications.
Skill in planning and implementing divisional procedures and objectives.
Skill in effectively supervising and delegating duties to assigned staff.
Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or related field, and five (5) years parks facilities maintenance management or administration experience, two (2) years of which is in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.
Work performed is primarily medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Equipment and Tools Utilized:
Equipment utilized includes personal computer, copier, calculator, fax machine and other standard office equipment, small hand and power tools as well as other department equipment and department vehicles.
