The Production Farm Manager will have primary responsibility to oversee the growing operations for the greenhouse and outdoor production facility located in Edinburg, Texas. (McAllen area). This position will also act as the growing expert, implement IMP and plant nutrition programs, operations management and will maintain oversight of the office and administration staff. Additionally, this position will manage the physical, mechanical, facility maintenance, and product preparation for distribution to our customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to develop the organization and leadership necessary to lead the grower team to success. These duties include propagation, transplanting, plant nutrition, growing, and fulfillment of the company’s products for distribution to market. The team’s progress in these roles will reflect your success as the Production Farm Manager.
Responsible to over-see the administrative team at the facility and to ensure administration processes are followed and implemented as directed.
Develops maintenance schedules for consistent non-interrupted operations of the facility.
Responsible to ensure the success of the propagation team, transplant team, and growers / waterers, etc.
Responsible to direct the pull team supervisor for timely and accurate preparation of materials for distribution. This will include implementation of the master pull process as directed by the sales office.
Responsible to collaborate with and lead individuals that have been selected to manage their respective departments.
Works with the Senior management team to create and measure standards of performance for supervisors and labor; Including, sticking, transplanting, product movement, transfers, master pull process, or any function that requires large amounts of labor and labor tracking for best efficiency.
Responsible to collect data for labor activities and report against metrics validating standards of performance.
Manages annual inspections of properties to keep all records, licenses, and permits up to date as needed to keep the company in compliance with legal ordinances.
Works with the management team to keep all facilities and mechanical equipment working properly at the best applicable performance levels.
Coordinates with facility personnel to maintain cleanliness and organization of materials and facilities as directed.
Responsible to organize, manage, and coordinate with Human Resources all vacations, lay off, leave of absence, employee status changes, etc. including annual vacations during the holidays.
Responsible to maintain a professional image at all times while representing the company, including but not limited to; all industry events and travel, after hours’ functions, seminars, and trade shows, etc. All company related facility visits, dinners, events, meetings and after hours entertaining.
Other administrative duties as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a horticultural or related business in a facility support role. College degree and/or extensive experience in the horticulture field is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

This is greenhouse and agricultural farm work and will require appropriate protective clothing and shoes. Work will take place in the greenhouse, fields, warehouse, and office. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs and be active among workers.
Must be bilingual, English and Spanish
Must have 5 to 10 years of Farm Management experience.
Must have a Horticulture educational backgound.
Willing to re-locate or must be willing to commute to Edinburg, TX
Certification is not required but must be willing to get or already have their pesticide license.
