Job Summary: The landscape supervisor manages all landscaping tasks to maintain the approximately 100-acre facility grounds. Coordinates the procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work. Supervise staff and assist them in carrying out their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of 8-11 employees.
Propagate plants by cuttings and care for cuttings.
Oversee sprinkler system, aeroponic and hydroponic system, vegetable garden, flower beds, greenhouse, and orchard.
Use technology, such as mobile apps to manage the property.
Purchase products and approving time and attendance for staff.
Monitor property grounds to ensure a pleasant appearance.
Maintain, update, and communicate planting calendar with supervisor and staff to ensure quality standards.
Maintain an operating calendar for the property.
Coordinate regular garden and landscape maintenance tasks with staff such as pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and watering to ensure the health of plants.
Implement pest and disease management strategies as needed.
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure proper maintenance and project completion.
Learn about the history of the land and understand what motivates the employer.
Possess broad skills so that you can deal with any garden related problem that arises, from machinery problems, pest and disease issues, and landscape construction.
Qualifications:
Degree in horticulture or related fields desirable.
Competent with Microsoft office, calendar applications, and other mobile apps.
Experience effectively managing staff and allocating tasks.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Direct the efforts of staff to mow lawns, trim weeds, and rake leaves as assigned.
Instruct staff to pick up and remove trash prior to mowing a designated area.
Advise staff when to prepare soil and plant flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
Plant trees and prunes them when necessary.
Instruct and counsel the application of fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides by staff.
Operate hand tools and power tools to perform necessary tasks.
Ensure proper care of plants in all seasons.
Able to walk quickly and lift 20 pounds.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
